HALF MOON BAY - Blackrock

Half Moon Bay is one of the prettiest Melbourne beaches around.  With clear blue waters and limestone cliffs you will also spot a sunken ship in the waters.

It has plenty of history that is documented around the place.

A beautiful spot to watch the sunset, take the dog for a walk (not during the Summer season as dogs are prohibited on the beach) and eat some potato cakes at the waters edge. Or have a more upmarket meal at the Cerberus Beach House restaurant by the pier.

Half Moon Bay is worth the drive wherever you live.

MS GREY TEA FROM TEALEAVES IN SASSAFRAS

For the best Lady Grey tea go to Tealeaves in Sassafras.  Known as Ms Grey it is similar to Earl Grey with citrus flavours of bergamot and lemon, with blue cornflowers that are imported by Tealeaves.

I used to enjoy the teabags but I cannot go back to teabags of any description after tasting this delicious brew!

Lite n Easy - No Vegetarian Program

I was very surprised to discover that Lite n Easy do not have a vegetarian program to support weight loss.

Having spoken to two consultants from the company I decided to put this is writing to them.

I received a response from Belinda stating they would forward my email to those making future decisions for their programs.

I hope this company will see the massive benefits in putting a vegetarian progam together.  Vegetarians coming off meat often put on weight substituting carbs for meat.

A Lite n Easy calorie controlled vegetarian program will teach vegetarians about portion control and how to eat properly.

I hope they will do something about this in time and keep up with the growing numbers of people who are choosing to become vegetarian and vegan.

NATURAL ELIXER

GARLIC, GINGER, LEMON AND HONEY

I swear by this natural elixir when you have a cold, sore throat, the flu or upset tummy.

In a cup of boiling water add a clove of garlic cut into small pieces, a large slice ginger cut in small pieces, the juice of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey.

Infuse in the water and either strain it or better still leave it unstrained and eat the garlic and ginger.

This will strengthen the immune system to fight off the bugs.

If you have Thieves Essential Oil which is one of Young Living's best, then for a SUPER NATURAL ELIXER add two drops to this infusion.

Good health!

MT MARTHA BEACH

Remember that song Echo Beach?  Well Mt Martha Beach is my Echo Beach...far away in time.  It is a beautiful beach on the Mornington Peninsula that has a feel of a different era to it-a slower, gentler time perhaps.

I've been going there for 12 years and it is always clean and the waters a clear blue.  Around 1 hour from Melbourne the beach views of the Peninsula are truly spectacular and it makes for an easy drive. Take the scenic route via Nepean Hwy or the quicker Mooroduc Hwy to get to the heart of Mt Martha.

Once there get yourself a stilton blue cheese and cauliflower tart from Mt Martha Fine Foods and invest the extra $2.00 for some relish to go with it.  Sit on this tranquil beach and enjoy this lovely experience.

BIRDSLAND RESERVE

Birdsland Reserve has one of my favourite reserves.  An easy 45 minute walk around bushland and two lakes makes this walk a pleasant experience for walkers and their dogs alike.

The natural bird habitat is the reason why dogs are not allowed off lead however there is an area that people let their dogs run free behind the actual track.  Cyclists also utilise this track and you will occasionally see a horse or two being ridden along with kangaroos if you go at the right time and know where to spot them.  They usually come out in the evening.

Enjoy the lovely sunsets over the lakes. The Reserve closes around 8.30pm in Summer.  A great place for BBQ's and family time.

LA BAGUETTE CAFE

La Baguette Café
Adams Lane, Berwick

One of Berwick's hidden gem cafes is La Baguette, a gorgeous French inspired café with all the trimmings. Elegant ambience and very friendly staff.

This particular morning I tried a breakfast consisting of croissants topped with creamy scrambled eggs with a side serve of field mushrooms. Very satisfying.

Fortunately I left room for of the most delectable of desserts with a cup of Paris blend tea served in divine little cups.  This place takes casual café dining to a whole new level.

I'll be going back to sample the baguettes soon enough.  This place is a rare treat!
